Gauchere SS21 Decompression Chamber

A moment of intentioned resonance to collaborate in creating a moment of peace during these pressurized times of uncertainty. This event was an offering through the mergence of our universes and yours in ceremony.

Concept

Following her ceremonial experience and initial consultations about the defile concept, Honour Thy Lovers advised upon the framework of a Decompression Chamber to launch Marie-Christine Statz’s Gauchere SS21 collection opening PFW and post-COVID lockdown in Paris. In line with elegant minimalism intrinsic to the house of Gauchere, we would pare down all unnecessary elements and magnify the crisp senses of scent and sound to support each piece as a form of simplicity and talisman. Cyclical loops of shamanic drumming sound and choreographed movement became a calm tide which enabled each attendee to sink into an ebb and flow between the layers of ceremony and defile.

A monogrammed altar cloth bound to bundles of Sage and Palo Santo were presented as offerings to attendees and supporters of the house to initiate this moment of breath and mystery within the space.

Excerpt from the press release

Breathe. Observe. Listen. Presence. We invite you to co-create with us - in the spaces between the grace of craft and line - a pause.

Alongside the house of Gauchere, ceremonialist John James of Honour Thy Lovers, will initiate a call to our shared foundations of energy in this moment. Aided by the spirits of the sacred wood, Palo Santo from the Brazilian and Peruvian Amazon - through this ceremony of heartbeat and soul, she offers you her higher purpose, meditative intentions and grounding of love to find resonance of decompression during a time of oppression. During this gentle collision of universes, our table is open, please listen inward and take what you may need from this experience.
